This will be a quick review of the following: Bunmei Kaika Aoiza Ibunroku Saien Pre-order drama CD (that came with my game), Bunmei Kaika Aoiza Ibunroku Sakura Ranman ~Yoidore Romanki~ and Moujuutsukai to Oujisama ~Snow Bride~: ~Omoide no Hana~. At least for Moujuutsukai to Oujisama’s, it is expected that you are aware of the spoilers of both games already.
So if I were to sum up my afterthoughts very briefly: Surprisingly, I enjoyed both of the Aoiza Ibunroku CDs a lot! It’s probably ‘cos I had no idea what to expect from them when I first bought them. But wow, they just reminded me of how fun the interactions between the characters can be! While the plot of the game isn’t the strongest out there, the interactions certainly are! On the flipside, I listened to MtO ~Snow Bride~’s next and it didn’t have as strong an impression on me. Well I’ll get to the details of it all soon.
Bunmei Kaika Aoiza Ibunroku Saien Pre-order drama CD: This is basically Aoiza staging a play – but Aoi is ill so she won’t be taking part in their Urashima Tarou. The main drama is split into two tracks. Yukichi helps with the narration for the first half but he keeps hurrying them on as he interrupts them. In the end, the actual story is over by the time it’s interval time lol! So the Aoiza members have to find a way to salvage the second half, and they have Housen narrate the second half and bring in Seiji to play an original character
(Seiji is adorable ahhh). Somehow they manage to make the play a success!
This was such a fun listen, especially in the second track since you wouldn’t know how they were going to end things. The characters would also add in their own amusing flavour: Seiji, for example, got so into the role towards the end that he even took out his gun to shoot (technically, guns shouldn’t even exist in that story) lol. Hachi wanted a cool-er role so he did his own plot twist but got chased away by the rest in the end pfft.
Definitely one of the better pre-order drama CDs I’ve listened to! Besides the drama, it also include the opening and ending theme songs for the PSP game.
Bunmei Kaika Aoiza Ibunroku Sakura Ranman ~Yoidore Romanki~: The Aoiza members, later joined by Seiji, go out for some cherry blossom viewing! Since Seiji hasn’t met Aoi yet, this should take place during April, just after Aoi arrived in Meiji era. Again, she isn’t “present” in this drama CD since she’s busy making all the random bentou requests for all the members. But even so, we will certainly not be in for a peaceful sit in the park or something.
One of the most amusing moments is when Kensuke starts asking for some entertainment. All of them would take turns to do so – the funniest one has to be Kensuke and Kikaku doing the nininbaori, with Kensuke being the “arms” and Kikaku the “face”. It was just so hilarious hearing Kikaku struggle with this comedic act, as Kensuke kept stuffing the dango everywhere onto his face. After that, certain people kinda get drunk too – including Kikaku as he was “mistakenly” given alcohol and later Seiji, ‘cos Nanami forced him to down some. More serious scenes were also included though, such as between Nanami and Seiji (since they have a past together), and between Kikaku and Hachi (who still did not know then what their true relationship was).
At the very end are the cast talks. But they split it up into three groups: Morikubo Shoutarou, Miki Shinichirou, and Suzuki Tatsuhisa. Ishida Akira and Yonaga Tsubasa (he voices Moni). Suzumura Kenichi and Kaji Yuuki. Hmm let’s just say they were all interesting to listen to in their own ways hahaha.
Moujuutsukai to Oujisama ~Snow Bride~: ~Omoide no Hana~: Basically Kurt gets this rare flower and passes it to Silvio first, who later drops by Tiana’s house so that she can sees it blossom later. When each guy touches it, a memory of theirs will be relived as it acts as a form of “nutrient” for the flower – eventually it blossoms in the end.
As suggested by the cover, many of their memories are when they were young. …okay wait, at least I remember Matheus, Lucia and Erik’s were (omg my memory is horrible). But it’s also ‘cos Lucia and Erik’s were the one I enjoyed the most, partially thanks to my bias. After that are the individual “first wedding night” tracks for each guy – well I guess it’s for those who want more sweet lines. But we kinda got those in the fandisk already so I thought they could’ve added something more special.
Oh wait, what’s that? Confession tracks from both Kurt and Dirk! Both were extremely short though and basically got to the point really quick. But Kurt was so adorable (fine, I’m bias) so I was just so happy throughout the track. Why couldn’t they have added this and more to the game itself sobs. Dirk has become a sweet boy by now but as we already know from the game – this would take place following Alfred’s route. ‘Cos of that, this romance would also feel odd to me: Tiana is already together with Alfred, oh but there’s Dirk too hmm.
All in all, I would only recommend getting the drama CDs if you haven’t gotten enough of the characters even after playing the games lol. But honestly, get Aoiza Ibunroku’s over MtO’s if you’re deciding between either one. If you are interested, you can find this on sites with international shipping like cdjapan or yesasia. (I don’t seem to spot Aoiza Ibunroku’s drama CD on either though.)
